In 2023, 2,630 acts of intentional attacks on physical integrity were recorded in Jura, an increase of 15% compared to 2022. Among the 2,900 victims of violence recorded, 1,100 involved domestic or intra-family violence. , affecting 75% of women. Although the rate of violence remains below the national average (9 incidents per 1,000 inhabitants compared to 12 nationally), their progression alarms the authorities. This violence is often exacerbated by aggravating factors such as the consumption of alcohol or drugs. Intra-family violence, in particular, represents nearly 40% of cases.
Prostitution, a reality too often ignored
A diagnosis carried out by the Association du Nid revealed the extent of prostitution in the Jura, present in both urban and rural areas. The victims, mainly young and vulnerable women, suffer economic pressure, addictions and psychological violence. This observation highlights the urgency of a collective and concerted response. “ We need to communicate more about prostitution in the Jura, raise awareness, make the figures public and not let the phenomenon take hold any further. Everyone must realize that this exists here », insisted the prefect.
Approval to take concrete action
The signing of the approval for the Prostitution Exit Pathways marks a major step forward. This system allows the CIDFF du Jura to play a central role in supporting victims, by ensuring: global support, including psychological, legal and social support; coordination between local stakeholders (health, education, justice, associations) and interventions in schools to raise awareness among young people and prevent risks.
Prevention through education and awareness
School has been identified as a key place to act on these issues. Interventions carried out by the CIDFF address the issues of sexual violence and prostitution. They not only raise awareness among students, but also involve their families. “ Children talk at home about what they learn at school, which can be a lever to break the silence », recalled Serge Castel.
