• Record Russian progress since the start of the war. Data from the American Institute for the Study of War shows that the Russian army advanced by 725 km2 in November, the largest amount since March 2022.
• Olaf Scholz on a surprise visit to Ukraine. The German Chancellor arrived in kyiv on Monday morning to meet Volodymyr Zelensky. He promised that Germany would remain “Ukraine's biggest supporter in Europe” and announced the upcoming delivery of 650 million euros of additional military equipment.
• A drone attack leaves several people dead. During the night from Sunday to Monday, Russian drones killed at least four people and injured 23 in several regions of Ukraine. In the western city of Ternopil, an explosive device hit the fifth floor of an apartment building, causing a fire.
• Volodymyr Zelensky asks for guarantees from NATO. The Ukrainian president assured Sunday that his country needs more weapons and security guarantees from NATO before possible negotiations with Russia to put an end to the invasion launched in 2022.
• A vast offensive against the energy network. Ukraine has been targeted in recent weeks by several waves of strikes targeting its energy infrastructure, which have caused massive power outages as winter approaches.
