In Haute-Garonne, the act of sorting household packaging is clearly increasing, the proof in figures

What of good students. In 2023, residents of the region sorted on average 60 kg of household packaging (light packaging and glass) and 14.5 kg of paper each, i.e. 1.5 kg (of the 74.5 kg) more than the previous year. A clear increase which can be explained in particular by the increased collection of plastic and cardboard packaging.

Good sorting dynamics at the departmental level (compared to 2022)

In the department of Haute-Garonne (31), each resident sorted on average 59.7 kg of household packaging and paperan overall performance up 3.4% compared to 2022, with a significant increase in sorting of light packaging of 17%.

In Tarn-et-Garonne (82), each resident sorted on average 78.4 kg of household packaging and paperan increase of +0.3%, with a significant increase in sorting of light packaging of more than 13%.

The most spectacular figures are in Ariège (09) where each resident sorted on average 92.2 kg of household packaging and paperperformance up 9.5% with a significant increase in sorting of light packaging of 34%.

The reason for this rise in sorting?

For Citeo (company created by companies in the consumer goods and distribution sector to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging and paper, by offering them reduction, reuse, sorting and recycling solutions):

The simplified sorting process and the modernization of sorting centers explain, once again this year, the regional progress!”

For the company “the deployment of the simplification of the sorting procedure finalized in 2023” is therefore one of the main reasons for this favorable increase. Especially since “its gradual implementation in the territory has enabled an increase in the sorting and recycling of plastic packaging throughout the year “.

Citeo, a major player in the sector

At the same time, Citeo and the communities of the Occitanie region worked to optimize collection to improve the efficiency and performance of waste sorting (for example, Ouest Aveyron Communauté deployed 270 collection ecopoints on its territory robotic since October 2023).

And this is not its only commitment since the company specializing in recycling also mobilizes on a daily basis to facilitate out-of-home sorting and ensure the continuity of the sorting action of residents everywhere and all the time.

To continue on this positive line,

Citeo once again calls on all stakeholders at national and territorial level to mobilize, consult and take advantage of these solutions to reduce the environmental impact of household and paper packaging more quickly and more strongly.
