A few days after the Caetano snowstorm, a new depression caused a storm, Bert. This time, it was the Pyrenees and the Centre-East departments which were the most affected. We noted:

  • 197 km/h in Iraty (Orgambide) in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, at 1,400 meters above sea level;
  • 144 km/h at Mont Aigoual in the Massif Central, at 1,500 meters above sea level;
  • 143 km/h in Saint-Chamond in the (monthly record);
  • 134 km/h in (Saint-Exupéry) in the Rhône (monthly record).

According to Lyon Weather reportWeather reportmore than 150 trees were uprooted in city parks.

In Isère, a heavy goods vehicle was overturned by the wind on the highway, and many homes were deprived of electricity in the Rhône-Alpes region.

The United Kingdom under water

The depression caused heavy rains in the United Kingdom and at least 300 homes were flooded.

It fell 130 millimeters in the space of 24 hours, on ground already saturated with water. The majority of damage is concentrated in the south of England and the south of the Country of WalesWales.

Five people died, mainly in their carcar.
