Let's hope that the future president of the United States has made progress in geography. Elected for a comeback to the White House in January 2025, Donald Trump stood out a few years ago on X, then Twitter, for a message that was surprising to say the least for the future statesman, reacting after the attack on a police station in Paris.
“Germany is a total mess”
The facts first: at the beginning of January 2016, one year to the day after the attack on Charlie Hebdo, a man was shot dead after trying to attack police officers at the Goutte d'Or police station, near Barbès, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. A fictitious explosive device and a claim in Arabic were discovered on him.
The one who is not yet installed in the White House reacted a few hours later on Twitter: “A man killed in a Paris police station. I had just said that the terrorist threat was at its highest level. Germany is a total mess. BE SMART! »
Enough to heat up social networks. Europe 1 recalled that just three hours after the publication of his tweet, nearly 5,000 people had retweeted his message and more than 5,000 others had “liked” it.
More than eight years later, this tweet, still online, still remains mysterious, as on the first day. One of the possible hypotheses is that of the pure and simple nullity of the future American president in geography. What many Internet users reminded him more or less sharply.
For Europe, this tweet could also be the result of the amalgamation between the attack on a police station in Paris and a hundred sexual assaults committed during New Year's Eve in Cologne, Germany.
Donald Trump will finally be banned from the social network, where he then had 88 million subscribers, after the violent assault on the Capitol in January 2021, before being admitted again in November 2022 thanks to his friend Elon Musk.
