The new National Rally wave, which came out on top in France for this first round of legislative elections and is very dynamic in the Rhône, is causing strong tensions this Sunday evening in Lyon. gathering at Place des Terreaux (1st arrondissement), at the call of the ultra-left, degenerated into violence and clashes with the police.
After the gathering, the event turned into a wild demonstration (which was not declared at the prefecture according to our information). Clashes broke out on Rue de la République and near Place Bellecour in the shopping center.
Barricades with barriers and trash cans were set up by protesters. The police were targeted by numerous projectiles, including fireworks mortars.
The police were also targeted with glass bottles or stones. Businesses were targeted with broken windows, including a Levis store and Zadig et Voltaire.
Vandals attack businesses in Croix-Rousse
On the slopes of Croix-Rousse, the town hall of the 1st arrondissement was targeted with “Death to democracy” tags.
An Orange store was smashed in the Croix-Rousse district (4th arrondissement), a Société Générale targeted by thugs.
