This Sunday, June 30, 2024, was the first round of the legislative elections. Voters in Nîmes, Alès and the 349 other communes of Gard must elect six deputies. From 8 p.m., follow live in this article all the results: participation, eliminated candidates and qualified for the second round.

This Sunday, June 30, 2024, voters went to the polls for the first round of the legislative elections. Following the dissolution of the National Assembly decided by the President of the Republic, they must elect new deputies. In Gard, six seats are at stake, four of which have been held by the National Rally since 2022. 1st constituency

Context : the 1st constituency of Gard has 88,975 registered on the electoral lists and a population of 135,452 inhabitants in 2019, slightly down compared to the 136,260 inhabitants in 2013 (-0.1%). The urban population represents 89.6% of this territory, while 10.4% of inhabitants live in peri-urban rural communities. The average age of the population is 40.7 years.

This constituency covers western Nîmes, Vistrenque and the Costières plateaus, extending to Argence. Terre d’Argence, located in the heart of the Nîmes-Arles-Avignon triangle, brings together five municipalities: Beaucaire, Bellegarde, Fourques, Jonquières-Saint-Vincent and Vallabrègues. In the Nîmes part, the constituency includes working-class neighborhoods such as Chemin Bas d’Avignon, Pissevin and Valdegour, as well as wealthy neighborhoods like La Fontaine, the hills of Montaury and Camplanier. Beaucaire also has two priority districts, located in the city center and in the Moulinelle district.

The territory, both agricultural (arboreal and viticultural), peri-urban and urban, extends over 11 municipalities. Employment is a major issue in this constituency, with nearly 27% of the population living below the poverty line, compared to 14.5% in metropolitan France.

Context : the 2nd constituency of Gard has 94,578 registered voters and a population of 119,424 inhabitants in 2019, up from 113,907 inhabitants in 2013 (+0.8%). The urban population represents 81.1% of this territory, while 13.3% of the inhabitants live in peri-urban rural municipalities and 5.6% in non-peri-urban rural areas. The average age of the population is 42.6 years.

In 2019, 15.2% of the constituency’s population had a standard of living below the poverty threshold, compared to 14.5% in metropolitan France.

This constituency includes the municipalities of Sommières, Saint-Gilles (the most populous), Vauvert and Aigues-Mortes. This territory with contrasting identities is mainly arboricultural and wine-growing.

This constituency includes the municipalities of Alès, Saint-Chaptes and Pont-Saint-Esprit.

The urban population represents 32.7% of this territory, while 33.6% of residents live in peri-urban rural communities and 33.8% in non-peri-urban rural areas. The average age of the population is 45.7 years.

This constituency covers 138 municipalities, extending from the gates of Nîmes and Caveirac to the rural territories of Alzon and Génolhac.

In the fifth constituency of Gard, the Insoumis Michel Sala hopes to take advantage of the union on the left to reverse the dynamic of the European elections against Alexandre Allegret-Pilot, LR-RN candidate, who recovered the investiture after the legal setbacks of Emmanuel Espanol. A duel between these two men could be played out in the second round on these Cévennes lands, where the Macronist party is encountering difficulties.

The urban population represents 83.6% of this territory, while 8.4% of inhabitants live in peri-urban rural communities. The average age of the population is 42.8 years.

This constituency includes cantons 2 and 4 of Nîmes, as well as the communes of Marguerittes and Uzès.

In this sixth constituency of Gard, lawyer Sylvie Josserand (RN), just elected European deputy, hopes to succeed Philippe Berta, the outgoing deputy of the presidential majority who is not running for re-election. Aurélien Colson (MoDem), taking up the torch, will also have to monitor the ecologist Nicolas Cadène, who came close to victory in 2022.
