This season, many FC Metz players have been loaned out for different reasons. Some left to gain playing time, others to familiarize themselves with the professional world. It is time to take stock of this 2023-2024 season for these players.

With one week to go before training resumes, it is time to take stock of the ten players loaned by FC Metz during this 2023-2024 season.

Loaned this winter by FC Metz, Sami Lahssaini only played seven matches with RAAL La Louvière before suffering a serious injury on April 13 against Charleroi. The 25-year-old Belgian-Moroccan midfielder, however, won the title of champion of the 1st National Division (D3 Belgium). The latter extended his contract with the Wolves until 2026.

Simon Elisor, a glimmer of hope for Troyes in a catastrophic season

Simon Elisor had a nightmarish season on a collective level. Arriving in Troyes in January, the 24-year-old striker rediscovered his goalscoring instinct in a team in distress. Indeed, despite a good second half of the season individually (18 matches, 6 goals, one assist), he experienced relegation to the National with ESTAC. Thus, the native of Périgueux experienced two descents in one season since he played the first part of the 2023-2024 financial year with FC Metz. He could also go to QPR (Championship) this summer.

Loaned for the second consecutive year by FC Metz, Papa Ndiaga Yade turned in a great performance with QRM. The 24-year-old Mauritanian international scored four goals and provided three assists in thirty-four Ligue 2 games. Interesting statistics for a team relegated to the National League. He had the best season of his career after 2020-2021, when he scored three goals and provided four assists in Ligue 1 with the Grenats. The left winger trained at Génération Foot is at the end of his contract with the club with the Croix de Lorraine.

Ousmane Ba the unlucky

Some players have a series of mishaps with clubs, this is particularly the case ofOusmane Ba. The 22-year-old Senegalese goalkeeper was on loan to Cholet (National) this season and was unable to prevent the club’s relegation to National 2. His performances were not flamboyant (16 matches, 23 goals conceded) and he had to face competition with Thomas Secchiwho came to strengthen the squad last December. Ousmane Ba experienced a second descent in a row after that in National 3 with the FC Metz reserve last season.

On loan from Epinal this winter, Morgan Bokele did not shine. The young 20-year-old left winger played fourteen National matches, scoring only one goal. A poor performance which reflects the 2023-2024 financial year experienced with the Vosges club. SAS Epinal actually finished penultimate in the championship and will play in National 2 next season.

A disappointing passage in Châteauroux for Othmane Chraibi

Arrived in Châteauroux last summer, Othmane Chraibi has not had a great season. Thus, the 21-year-old Moroccan defensive midfielder has played fifteen games with the first team, including twelve in the National team for one goal, and fifteen games with the reserve team in N3. He has one year left on his contract with FC Metz.

A busy season for Skuka

Julian Skuka started the season at NK Maribor (Slovenia) but he was not going to convince the management who ended his loan on December 31 (18 matches, 2 goals, 1 assist). A week later, FC Metz loaned him to FK Partizani, an Albanian first division club where he had already worn the colors from 2022 to 2023. Back in his native country, the 25-year-old center forward has rediscovered his sense of goal with four goals and two offerings in fifteen league games. However, this is a much lower performance than during his best season, in 2021-2022 (33 matches, 10 goals, 6 assists).
The Dibër native is under contract with FC Metz until June 2026.

After a more or less successful 2023-2024 season, two players (Papa Ndiaga Yade and Ousmane Kebe) out of the ten loaned by FC Metz are at the end of their contract. Sami Lahssaini left the club after five years without being able to establish himself in the first team. For others, some will have difficulty finding a place in a workforce undergoing reconstruction.
