Sunday June 30, in Chateaurenard (Bouches-du-Rhône), Montmélian has become French champion of Fédérale 2 by beating Grenade-sur-Garonne in the final (39-21).

Too much indiscipline

There was little suspense in this Fédérale 2 final, due to the indiscipline of the Haut-Garonnais, who notably received 3 yellow cards, including two in the first 20 minutes of the match.

The scorer from Montmélian, a Savoie club, did not hesitate to punish Grenade-sur-Garonne, converting 5 penalties in the first act. To this were added two tries from Chambon and Lafontaine, for a very comfortable score (29-11) at the break for Montmélian.

Despite a slight reaction from Grenade-sur-Garonne with Gracieta’s achievement, Haas’ try a quarter of an hour from the end of the match finished killing all suspense. Montmélian managed the end of the match and was able to exult at the final whistle.

Who moves up to Federal 1?

As stipulated in the regulations, the 8 quarter-finalists of the championship gain access, subject to acceptance and validation by the FFR, to Federal 1.

These 8 clubs are: 4 Cantons BHAP, Nantua, Sarlat, Montmélian, Gujan-Mestras, Lourdes, Castillon-la-Bataille and Grenade-sur-Garonne.
