According to a recent international study, French company fleets are among the leading countries where the electrification of fleets is most advanced. Decryption.
This study carried out by the consulting firm Frost & Sullivan on behalf of Wex, the specialist in payment solutions for corporate fleets, was carried out in eight countries (France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Belgium, United States -United States, Australia and New Zealand), after more than 500 park managers including 65 in France.
France at the forefront of electrification
In these eight countries, almost half of the companies surveyed estimate that their fleet will be made up of at least 50% electric vehicles by 2030. In this area, France is in the lead, with forecasts superior. In fact, 20% of fleet managers surveyed plan to move to 100% electric vehicles by 2030. In contrast, in the United States and Germany, 64% of companies plan to use only 25% electric vehicles. in their fleets at the end of this decade.
Primarily economic motivations
In France, this desire to transition to electricity can be explained in particular by economic considerations. In fact, 79% of managers surveyed cite cost reduction as the main reason leading to the decision to purchase electric vehicles. Beyond these financial considerations, the other reasons cited concern the protection of the brand image (77%) versus compliance with regulations (76%). Nevertheless, decarbonization remains one of the main drivers of the transition: 70% of managers say that it is an important or fundamental element of their business strategy, thus underlining the importance of decarbonization for business strategies. savings, sustainability and corporate branding.

The question of journey planning
However, if the Frost & Sullivan study indicates that the transition to electric vehicles seems to be on the right track in France, it is not happening without difficulties, particularly with regard to the question of recharging. Although most French companies say they are generally satisfied with public infrastructure, the fact remains that their use remains low. In fact, 55% of electric vehicle users use them in France, compared to a percentage of 68% in other European countries. The main reason given to explain this remains trip planning: 68% of managers reporting difficulties sometimes reconciling their trips with their vehicle charging needs.
Progress still to be made for the networking of charging stations
According to the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA), France ranks tenth among European countries in terms of the deployment of charging infrastructure, with 4.1 public charging stations on average per 100 kilometers. . Please note that this classification was carried out by listing the average number of public charging stations for each 100 kilometer road portion. Terminals located on motorways, national, provincial and municipal roads are taken into account in this classification, unlike private charging infrastructures (individuals and businesses).
