It blew very hard again this Monday, November 25 in Drôme and Ardèche. Météo France places the two departments on yellow alert in the wind until the evening. Of the gusts up to 115 km/h were noted at Mazan-l'Abbaye, on the Ardèche plateau. 95 km/h in Albon in the Nord-Drôme. This wind coming from the south was even stronger in neighboring departments placed on orange alert: Loire, Rhône, Isère, Haute-Loire and Puy-de-Dôme.
In the streets of Valencia this Monday morning, people are fixing their hair every ten seconds, we readjust the scarf and the hat. Wrapped up in a onesie, 3-month-old Elise finally finds a smile in the arms of her childminder. “She was crying in the stroller because she doesn't like the wind. It's already happened in the last few days,” explains Anne-Sylvaine, taking out a bottle. Today, the walk will be shorter, no more than three quarters of an hour, but she still wants to let him get some fresh air.
Jouvet Park closed
“It’s not very pleasant but we deal with it. As soon as she has finished her bottle we go back because we are still better at home than in the open air,” adds the childminder. In front of Parc Jouvet, signs indicate “closed due to bad weather”. The town hall decided to restrict access to the park as a precaution. Inside, agents rush to gather and collect the leaves which are falling in large numbers. But the wind swirls, making operations difficult.
But there are still courageous people for whom nothing can stop the desire to go jogging or cycling. Along the Rhône, where we can't hear the wind blowing so hard, Robert rushes at full speed, his hands firmly gripping the handlebars. “Nothing stops me from cycling, whether it’s wind, rain, cold. I love it”explains the 74-year-old man as he dismounts. The retiree has just covered 60 kilometers. When he had the wind at his back, he drove at over 30 km/honly 20 with the headwind. “We try not to think about it, and not to force it because we can't fight it. You have to accept the wind and above all not wear a hat!”quips the cyclist.
No homes without electricity
According to Météo France forecasters, the gusts of wind should calm down around 6-7 p.m.. But the Drôme remains on yellow alert in the wind until 10 p.m. and the Ardèche until 8 p.m. In the south of the two departments, the wind blew much less strongly than in the north: 60 km/h maximum in Montélimar for example. Contacted, Enedis ensures that no home has been deprived of electricity.
Cévennes episode
The wind will give way to rain during the night of Monday 25 to Tuesday 26 November. With in particular a Cévennes episode in Ardèche which will intensify during the night but which will be “modest” assures a forecaster. Météo France forecasts 30 to 50 millimeters of cumulative rain. Ardèche is in vigilance yellow rain-flood until midnight on the night of Monday to Tuesday, and flood watch until Tuesday. In Drôme Provençale, it will also rain: 15 to 30 millimeters.
These next few days, return to dryness, with less wind and we will keep the mildness according to Météo France. We should even have beautiful sunshine in Drôme-Ardèche.
