Dominic Iankov scored the decisive goal in the 89th minute and Ruan added the insurance three minutes later as CF Montreal recorded a 4-2 victory over the visiting Philadelphia Union on Saturday night.

Bryce Duke had a goal and an assist and Josef Martinez scored his 108th career goal for Montreal (5-8-7, 22 points), ending a four-game winless streak (0-1-3) .

Quinn Sullivan and Jesus Bueno scored for Philadelphia (4-8-8, 20 points). The Union lost its fourth consecutive match and has not won any of its last seven meetings (0-4-3).

Montreal’s go-ahead goal was set up by Raheem Edwards, who fed Iankov, who beat Philadelphia goalie Andrew Rick. It was Iankov’s second goal of the season.

Montreal then put the game away when Ruan brought the ball to the door of the net and knocked it past Rick for his first goal of the season.

Montreal goalie Jonathan Sirois made three saves, while Rick made two.

CF Montreal outshot the Union 14-8 and had six attempts on target compared to Philadelphia’s five.

Daniel Gazdag, Union’s top scorer (10 goals), came on in the 62nd minute but only had one shot. He has just returned to the team after missing three games while playing for the Hungarian national team.

Philadelphia took a 1–0 lead in the 29th minute when Sullivan’s right-footed shot hit the left post and went into the net. It was Sullivan’s second goal of the season.

Montreal tied the game seven minutes later on a corner kick. Duke sent a boot toward the goal, and Martinez rose and headed it fiercely into the net. It was his third goal of the season.

Philadelphia took a 2-1 lead in the 41st minute following a scrum following a Leon Flach corner. The ball went to the right corner of the net and Bueno hit it to deceive Sirois.

CF Montreal equalized in the 56th minute on another abnormal play. Duke took a free kick and sent a right foot into the box toward Martinez, but it flew over the striker’s head.

Rick was focused on Martinez and jumped to try to thwart any header attempt. But the ball went to his right with a direct trajectory toward the net. Philadelphia’s Jack Elliott gave chase and failed to clear the ball, giving Duke its second goal of the season.
