Discover the Louvre Lens

The Louvre-Lens is the work of architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of the SANAA agency. Organized in an open space of 3000 m², the Galerie du Temps exhibits more than 200 key works from the Louvre Museum. By presenting masterpieces from the 4th millennium BC to the mid-19th century, the Gallery of Time offers a complete and renewed journey through the history of art and humanity and allows you to appreciate the Louvre collections in a new way. The Louvre-Lens is thus the first place to present the Louvre collections outside the confines of the Parisian Palais: thus, since 2012, more than 3,000 works from the Louvre collections have been presented in Lens.

Dive into the underground worlds

Underground worlds, 20,000 places under the earth exhibition at the Louvre-Lens

What is happening underground? What do these worlds that have nourished our imaginations since the dawn of time look like? In response to our questions raised by all forms of life underground, real or dreamed, the exhibition offers a sensitive exploration of these underground worlds. By turns frightening and inspiring, they are often the mirror of our societies and the human soul. From dark depths to mythical worlds, to the teeming worlds of countercultures, the reality of the underground is multiple. These 20,000 places under the earth explored by speleologists, miners or subway users, are equally fascinating literature and cinema, from Dante to Quentin Tarantino. In a journey of more than 200 works open to the arts of all eras and civilizations, from the engravings of Gustave Doré to the poetic sculptures of Éva Jospin, the exhibition invites you on a fabulous journey, from shadow to light.
