Météo-France places the Puy-de-Dôme department at the level of vigilance ORANGE for the risk of THUNDERSTORMS from 2:00 p.m., today, Saturday June 29, 2024.

Météo-France forecasts a stormy deterioration which crosses the west of Auvergne then the north of Rhône-Alpes between mid-afternoon and early evening, accompanied by potentially violent phenomena.

In Puy-de-Dôme, rainfall totals could locally reach 50mm and hail will be possible.

Wind gusts could locally reach 100km/h.

The Prefect urges everyone to be very vigilant during this meteorological episode, particularly road users.

The Prefect, in conjunction with operational services and mayors, remains vigilant regarding the development of the

situation.

Reminder of the main safety instructions to follow in these weather conditions

  • When a storm approaches, take the usual precautions to protect objects sensitive to wind;
  • Do not take shelter under trees;
  • Be careful, especially when traveling and doing leisure activities. Avoid walking in forests and going to the mountains.
  • Avoid using the telephone and electrical appliances;
  • Report any fires you witness immediately;
  • Do not under any circumstances, on foot or by car, enter a submerged path or near a watercourse;
  • Stay away from waterways and respect the instructions and prohibitions put in place by the municipalities;
  • In case of heavy rain, under no circumstances go down into basements.
