NÎMES Nearly 1,500 people for the Pride March

After Wednesday’s poetry evening, the karaogay followed by Thursday’s LGBTQI+ evening and Friday’s barathon, we wondered if the Pride March would take place despite the weather forecast predicting a small storm.

« Whether it’s windy, rainy, snowy, hot, the Pride March – Nîmes will take place ! » It was the bet, it was held for the third year in a row and in a particular societal context.

As every year, an associative village was formed on the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade. Various associations to talk about many causes to defend, structures which set up actions aimed at helping the target audiences, friends, neighbors.

Everything is done to feel good, at ease, despite each person’s specificities. If our species A wise man does not like difference and pushes for standardization and normality, here she has an antinomic preserved kingdom. The standard only exists a little, and so do the judgments. Radical and pleasant evolution! A sign workshop for the Pride March was even set up to ensure the protest procession had absolute value.

Once the stands had been visited, the time had come for the procession to parade with pride. The opening speeches of the Pride March were translated into sign language.

The 2024 route is a bit different from previous years. The start was from the Charles-de-Gaulle esplanade. The procession then went up Boulevard Amiral-Courbet before taking Boulevard Gambetta secured by volunteers because the buses continued their work and going back down Boulevard Victor-Hugo. It was in front of the Olive café that a minute of silence for the memory of the victims of HIV/AIDS and LGBTQI+ phobias was held. Finally, return to the esplanade to continue the party at the associative village.

The evening was to end at the association’s partners for a final evening of celebration!
