Obstacles expected Sunday in Sherbrooke due to the half-marathon

The City of Sherbrooke says traffic will be restricted between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. The Jacques-Cartier Bridge and Jacques-Cartier Park will be closed to motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

Access to the Axe de la Magog cycle path will also be closed during the event.

Several streets will be closed to cars to make room for runners. Rue Marcil, between boulevard Jacques-Cartier and rue Marchant will be closed as will boulevard Jacques-Cartier, between rue King Ouest and rue Galt Ouest, rue Roy between rue du Pacifique and rue du Saint-Esprit and rue Denault between boulevard Jacques-Cartier and rue du Saint-Esprit.

Saint-Marc, Saint-Denis, de Cherbourg, Cabana and du Saint-Esprit streets will also be closed to motorists.

Local traffic will be permitted. Detours will be in place. Sherbrooke Police Department officers will be present.

The Société de transport de Sherbrooke also indicates that a detour will be put in place for line 16 on Sunday.

Thousands of runners are expected for the RBC Sherbrooke Half Marathon. The proposed distances will be 1, 5, 10 and 21 kilometers.
