Dakar, June 29 – The President of the National Assembly, Amadou Mame Diop, proceeded, Saturday, with the official installation of the deputies of the parliamentary group Yewwi Askan wi Amadou Ba and Samba Diouf, replacing Birame Souleye Diop and Aliou Sall who became respectively Minister of Petroleum and Mines and Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs.

“(…) In application of the provisions of article 154 of the electoral code, I respectively invite Amadou Ba and Samba Diouf, candidates not elected on the same lists, to come and occupy their places in the hemicycle,” he said. he declares.

Speaking at the closing session of the 2023-2024 single session of the National Assembly, in which the Minister of Labor, Employment and Relations with Institutions Yankhoba Diémé took part on behalf of the government, Amadou Mame Diop said he had taken note of the decision to resign and suspend respectively Birame Souleye Diop and Aliou Sall from their mandates as MPs.

The President of the National Assembly also received the designation of Mohamed Ayib Saliou Daffé as president of the Yewwi Askan wi parliamentary group, replacing Birame Souleye Diop who became a minister in the government.

The plenary session devoted to the debate on budgetary orientations which was scheduled to be held this Saturday in the National Assembly with the Minister of Finance and Budget Cheikh Diba, was however cancelled, following the decision taken by the head of government Ousmane Sonko to delay his general policy statement (DPG) before the parliamentary institution. In particular, he invited the National Assembly to reintegrate into its internal regulations the provisions mentioning the post of Prime Minister abolished in 2019 before being reinstated in December 2021.
