HAS its creation in 2021, undoubtedly an error of appreciation, the Twin Sisters festival had spread its wings on the quays of the marina and at the Corderie. Too far from the city for the people of Rochefort, a little suspicious at first it is true, to realize that Julie Gayet’s baby had been born. Some discovered that stars had been there, but too late; others shouted at the Parisian showbiz community. Remarks that did not fall on deaf ears; very quickly, the situation was rectified. Now, as the fourth edition ends this Sunday morning, June 30, we can say that Twin Sisters has won over the public. Bet won.

People everywhere

During these five days, the city will have breathed to the rhythm of Twin Sisters. People everywhere, crisscrossing the streets from one venue to another of the festival: the theater; the movie theater ; rope making; the marina district; and of course the legendary Place Colbert, the one which seduced Demy for “Demoiselles” and which, through a rebound effect, convinced Julie Gayet to organize her festival in Rochefort.

The world crowded in on Thursday evening to attend Maxime Le Forestier’s artistic meeting at the Coupe d’Or theater.

Festival-goers had to make their choice from a rich program. Here, artistic meetings; there, previews; and of course films and concerts. The successful bet this year was this rise in power that saw people from here and elsewhere mix, Parisians or La Rochelle residents, that’s saying something! Young people, children, old people, we came here with family or friends to have a good time.

As usual, Thomas de Pourquery did not spare himself to offer a great show Thursday evening on the big stage.

And the bet was successful, we left with a smile on our lips, delighted with the quality of the event and happy to have seen stars, on stage, but also encountered here and there, by chance. Thus Françoise Fabian, herself on stage for the tribute concert to Dani, was leaving the theater after having attended an artistic meeting; Friday evening, Hippolyte Girardot showed up at the rope factory concert, while Emmanuelle Laborit showed up at the entrance.

When the quality is there, people make no mistake and come. The artistic encounter with Dany Boon was packed on Thursday at the theater

Anecdotes

This festival abolishes the barriers between those we usually see on screen or on stage, and the public who discovers Mr. and Mrs. Everyman. And then, in the intimate conversations that artistic encounters reserve, we learn anecdotes. Who knew that Maxime Le Forestier had abandoned the violin to study Latin? Or that his sister Catherine had been hit on by Moustaki? Or that the young Dany Boon found himself banned from banking because he had not honored his Cetelem credit which had allowed him to buy a piano? You only hear that in Twin Sisters!

In addition to the five-day festival, Sœurs jumelles is deployed throughout the year through actions in the region. For example, the students of the conservatory sang songs by Maxime le Forestier on Thursday evening at the theatre, before the artistic encounter with the singer.

Twin Sisters, which also builds bridges with the city all year round, for example with the children from the conservatory who sang songs by Le Forestier on Thursday evening before his artistic meeting, here is a festival that has managed to make its mark. The people of Rochefort are flattered and are still surprised, “we also get this?” It’s the wow effect.

End clap, this Sunday at 10:15 a.m.: screening of “I’m enraged by his absence”, film by Sandrine Bonnaire (in her presence) at the Apollo cinema.
