The retrial of Raymond Mis and Gabriel Thiennot, convicted of the murder of a gamekeeper in 1946 in Indre before being pardoned, will take place. The QPC filed by the victim’s daughter has been rejected.
This is a victory for the Mis and Thiennot support committee. The investigating committee of the court of revision rejected, on Friday, June 28, the priority question of constitutionality filed by the daughter of Louis Boistard, a gamekeeper found dead on December 31, 1946 in a pond in Saint-Michel-en-Brenne, in Indre.

A trial by the end of 2024
The retrial of Raymond Mis and Gabriel Thiennot, authorized by the revision commission of the Paris Court of Cassation in October 2023, will take place. Mis and Thiennot had been sentenced in 1950 to fifteen years of forced labor for the murder of Louis Boistard. The two young hunters, aged 20 and 21 at the time of the events, had confessed to the murder in early 1947 before retracting, claiming to have been beaten during their very long police custody.
It’s historic: the Mis and Thiennot affair will be entitled to a review trial
it is thanks to an amendment to the law for “confidence in the judicial institution”, passed in 2021, making it possible to cancel confessions collected “following violence carried out by investigators” that this revision was able to materialize . “Justice considered that this article should not be subject to new examination from a constitutional point of view,” indicates the support committee on its Facebook page.
Gabriel Thiennot died in 2003, Raymond Mis in 2009. It is therefore a posthumous review trial which will take place, probably by the end of 2024.
