At the end of a quick election campaign, the shortest in the Ve Republic, the 1,072,000 voters of Loire-Atlantique will meet this Sunday, June 30, 2024, in the 1,132 polling stations in the department, for the first round of the early legislative elections. These elections follow the dissolution of the National Assembly pronounced by the President of the Republic on the evening of the European elections of June 9. As in the entire territory, voters are called upon to designate, in the secrecy of the voting booth, the future National Assembly composed of 577 deputies elected for a five-year term.
10 constituencies, 53 candidates
Loire-Atlantique has ten constituencies and a total of 63 candidates validated by the prefecture. Their number varies depending on the constituency. There are 5 on the 1re constituency (Nantes-Orvault); 8 on the 2e constituency (Nantes center); 6 out of 3e constituency (Nantes-Saint-Herblain); 7 on the 4e constituency (Nantes-Rezé); 4 out of 5e constituency (La Chapelle-sur-Erdre-Nort-sur-Erdre); 5 out of 6e constituency (Châteaubriant-Ancenis); 7 out of 7e constituency (Presqu’île); 6 out of 8e constituency (Saint-Nazaire); 8 out of 9e constituency (Pays de Retz); and 7 out of 10e constituency (Vineyard).

To be elected in the first round of voting, the candidate must obtain an absolute majority of the votes cast and a number of votes equal to a quarter of the registered voters. In the second round, a relative majority is sufficient.

Opening hours of polling stations
Throughout the department, polling stations will be open this Sunday, June 30 and Sunday, July 7, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. At the request of the municipalities, the prefect has set by decree the closing time for polling stations in Rezé, Couëron and Orvault at 7 p.m. and for polling stations in Nantes and Saint-Herblain at 8 p.m.
