Extended at the start of the year, potentially captain in the event of the departure of Brice Samba, Will Facundo Medina still be an RC Lens player at the end of the summer transfer window? RC Lens ready to let Facundo Medina go?
After Kevin Danso and Jonathan Grady, it’s Facundo Medina’s turn to be the subject of rumors about a possible transfer this summer. Despite a recent contract extension bringing his lease to an end in June 2018, the Argentina international could well be available for an amount of 17 million euros according to journalist Rudy Galetti. The same source mentions concrete interest from a German club, l’AS Roma and of course Athetico Madrid.
The Spanish club are reportedly looking for a plan B as Leonardo Balerdi could stay in Marseille, following the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi. Arriving at RC Lens in 2020, Facundo Medina quickly became a staple of Franck Haise’s team. While there were some lapses in concentration in the first few months, the former Talleres player was above all one of the great architects of the incredible 2022/2023 season with the status of vice-champion of France.
Earning 120,000 euros gross per month, Facundo Medina is not at the top of the RC Lens salary scale. However, the possibility of making a big added value on him, the Artesian club having paid 3.5 million euros to secure his services in 2020, could well give the Sang et Or leaders pause. if other files, in particular that leading to Elye Wahi, do not find an outcome allowing them to proceed with the austerity cure desired by Joseph Oughourlian.
