“Today I am choosing to stop there and begin new personal and professional adventures.” It was the day after the general meeting of Escrime Lisieux (Calvados), Saturday June 29, 2024, the club whose colors he has worn since 2002, that Nathan Fougy announced that he was ending his career. At 26, Nath, as those close to him call him, put his mask and sword away.

“This sport has allowed me to experience incredible emotions, in both victories and defeats, to meet people who are really important to me and above all to become the person I am today. Fencing was, is and always will be an important part of my life.”

The right-hander, who has also worn the colors of ENE (Épée Normandie Excellence) since 2015, ends his career with a very good season. Season marked mainly by two selections with the Blues but above all by a bronze medal at the French championships. It was last December in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) where the Norman won a prestigious victory against Alexandre Bardenet, then 6th in the world at No. 1 French.

Nathan Fougy will certainly have marked the history of the Lisieux club like that of ENE and Norman fencing.

“Throughout France, Europe and the world, I have enjoyed all the moments that my career has brought me. The national and international medals and selections with the French team will always be very good memories. The moments of life shared with my club will remain the most important for me. So thank you to all the people at Escrime Lisieux and the ENE with whom I had the chance to experience these moments.”
