The anger does not fall on Ilevia. After a first day of strike on June 21, the inter-union called for a “massive mobilization” on July 2, during the passing of the Olympic flame. The unions are demanding an “JO bonus” and calling on MEL officials to receive them.

On Tuesday, July 2, the European Metropolis of Lille will celebrate the passage of the Olympic flame. It will arrive at 2:45 p.m. in Tourcoing, coming from Cambrai, to cross the Metropolis and be in the streets of Lille around 6 p.m.

But for users, it will probably also be sport… unless the unions and Ilevia management come to an agreement. The inter-union (CGT, CFDT, SUD, CFE-CGC, Unsa) has filed a strike notice.

In question, a “prime JO” demanded by the unions and discussions which seem to be tense with management. Since December 2023, unions have been demanding a bonus to compensate for the leave they will not be able to take this summer.

More than a million spectators are expected in the Lille metropolis to follow the Olympic handball and basketball events, the CGT is demanding a bonus of 500 euros for all of the company’s employees as well as a “mobilization bonus” of 50 euros per day worked for staff scheduled from July 27 to August 11, i.e. during the Olympic period.

Ilevia had already planned to adapt its transport offer on Tuesday July 2 due to the passing of the flame. Throughout the day, several bus lines will be diverted or will not run in the Tourcoing, Roubaix and Lille sector.

On the tram, relay buses (due to work) will not serve certain stops. The Gare Lille Europe Tramway station will not be served from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Reservations for the Handipole service from or to Lille, Roubaix, Tourcoing will not be possible. However, the two metro lines should operate normally.

For the moment, the state of the traffic is not known. It will depend on the importance of the follow-up of this strike movement. On social networks, the management announces that “the forecast of our offer will be available, at the latest, from Monday 01/07 in the morning“.

It will therefore be necessary to find out more on Tuesday before considering travel in the MEL on Tuesday July 2.
