The weather will be choppy in France. After a start to the week marked by calm and dry weather, a new disturbance hit France this weekend. This first day of the weekend will be marked by rain and hail, lightning, as well as squalls in several regions of the country, indicates Météo France.

This Saturday, June 29, summer is still far from setting in in France. The weather is still turbulent with disturbances affecting a large part of France. Météo France has also placed 31 departments on orange alert for violent storms.

A strong storm episode will therefore cross most of the country. Indeed, few regions will escape this phenomenon. Only Brittany, the shores of the English Channel, the south-east of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and Corsica should remain safe from this bad weather.

This Saturday, Météo France also placed 56 other departments on yellow alert for the same risks of strong storms. A major part of France could therefore be affected. The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, as well as a large northeastern part of the country, should be particularly concerned.

Rising temperatures despite storms, indicates Météo France

The departments of Ain, Allier, Ardennes, Aube, Aveyron, Cantal, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Cher, Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Gironde, Jura, Landes, Lot, Marne, Haute-Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Moselle, Nièvre, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Saône- et-Loire, Deux-Sèvres, Tarn la Vienne, Vosges, Yonne and the Territoire de Belfort are therefore on level 2 alert for violent storms.

It must be said that, this Saturday, the weather will not be seasonal. From Nouvelle Aquitaine to Centre-Val-de-Loire, lightning could light up the sky, with, sometimes, heavy rain and significant accumulations. In the afternoon, from the east of the Pyrenees to Limousin, then to Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the storms will become even stronger and will multiply, according to Météo France which predicts high intensity rain, sometimes hail and powerful gusts.

This storm disturbance will head towards the Centre-Val-de-Loire, the east of Île-de-France and Bourgogne Franche-Comté at the end of the afternoon, to reach the Grand-Est in the evening, with continued heavy rain, violent gusts and hail.

Regarding temperatures, despite the bad weather, the mercury will remain high in most regions. You can expect 25°C in Paris, 28°C in Metz, 29°C in Strasbourg, 30°C in Marseille, Vichy and Montélimar and up to 31°C in Lyon, Gap and Corsica.
