Ban on swimming on the southern beach of Grau-du-Roi: Mayor Robert Crauste issues an order following an appeal by the ARS

The decision was taken this Friday, June 28, following an analysis of bathing water. The order is valid “until further notice.”

Swimming is prohibited on the southern beach of Grau-du-Roi. Alerted at midday by the Regional Health Agency following analyses warning of a deterioration in the quality of bathing water, the mayor of the Gard port city immediately issued an order.

“The order is valid until further noticeexplains Robert Crauste. It must be printed and placed on supports at beach entrances. The municipal police nautical brigade will be on the beaches this afternoon to warn people.”

An “exceptional” measure

The mayor specifies: “We have a system for monitoring the quality of bathing water to protect the population. Generally speaking, it is exceptional that we are forced to prohibit access. Here, in light of the analyses, on the southern beach of Grau-du-Roi, we took this decision,” explains Robert Crauste, who specifies that the origin of the deterioration in water quality is not known.

As soon as the concerns are lifted, a new decree will allow bathers to enjoy the pleasures of the Big Blue again. The other beaches remain freely accessible.
