Mama Africa will be celebrated this evening with singer Oumou Sangaré, a true icon of Malian music, and Les Égarés, a fusion of Jazz and African music, formed by two duos composed of Vincent Ségal, Ballaké Sissoko, Emile Parisien and Vincent Peirani. To raise the curtain, Reunionese Nirina Rakotomavo will also offer a modern fusion of jazz, but also sega and maloya. It remains to be hoped that the predicted storm does not play its own role as an additional rhythm section…

It is Oumou Sangaré who at 10:55 p.m. (or close) will close this evening, Saturday June 29, an African evening which will offer no less than three sets.

This icon of Malian music has forever marked the artistic history of Africa.

She has managed to evolve her style over the years without losing sight of her roots, to the point that her influence is today claimed by the biggest pop stars in France and the United States. A source of human and musical inspiration like few in the world. His arrival on the Jazz scene in Vienna is therefore a musical event.

Previously, these were The Lost who will take to the stage of the ancient theatre around 9:30 p.m.

It is a quartet born from the merger of two duos, an association which at first glance may seem surprising.

It brings together the cellist Vincent Ségal, never short of inspiration who invited the Parisian / Peirani duo to join the one he forms with the magician Ballaké Sissoko. And the music was born, as if flowing naturally, which astonished even the musicians themselves. Have the Lost found themselves: answer Saturday evening…

Line-up: Vincent Ségal (cello); Émile Parisien (soprano saxophone); Ballaké Sissoko (kora) and Vincent Peirani (accordion).

Finally, it is a newcomer, originally from Réunion, Nirina Rakotomavo who with her sextet will have the difficult task of opening this evening which promises to be challenging.

It has been a few years since this young singer and pianist began to make a name for herself, first as an accompanist to big names in French song – Jenifer, Benjamin Siksou – but also for her talents as a leader and composer. , at the head of the Selkies trio with singers Cynthia Abraham and Céline Boudier, before presenting in 2022 a new project under her name for which she signs all the compositions.

A modern fusion of jazz, song and music from the island of Reunion where she comes from, such as sega and maloya, which highlights her intense piano playing and her fine vocal harmonies.

Line-up: Nirina Rakotomavo (voice, piano); Margaux Chicoisne (backing vocals); Ayelya (backing vocals); Mathias Di Giusto (guitar); Elvin Bironen (bass) and Élie Martin-Charrière (drums)
