The festival returns to Nevers and the 13 communes of the conurbation from Monday 1st until Sunday July 7th. Forty companies will perform during this 24th edition, including 12 creations of the year. Something to laugh, dream, marvel, dance… In the meantime, Audrey Jehanno, director of the Alarue association, unveils the new features.

If we say to you “a cultural event that has become unmissable, every year, at the beginning of July”… You will answer ‘Les Zaccros d’ma rue’ of course! The festival, which celebrates street arts, will, once again, thrill Nevers and its surrounding area, from Monday 1st to Sunday 7th July. What should we expect? Answer with this ABC book.

C for creations

For this 24th edition, Audrey Jehanno, director of Alarue since June 2023, and her team have considered “new directions” without completely disrupting the formula of this great Nivernais event. As usual, the Walks in the Agglo will therefore open the festival from Monday July 1 to Thursday July 4, in the 13 municipalities, including Saint-Éloi, newly integrated. “There will be proposals for all audiences, in the tone of humor, also circus”, evokes Audrey Jehanno.

The ducal city will then be taken over, from Friday July 5 to Sunday July 7, with no less than 99 performances!

These are heterogeneous, multidisciplinary proposals. There will be circus, dance… Some shows are committed, others lighter. This is what makes the festival distinctive. And this year there will be 12 creations, shows that talk about today’s society, that appeal to current events.

In addition to programming recognized companies, the Zancres each year highlight creations supported as part of their artist residencies, like Cies Marécage, Hoods Flakes, Collectif Prélude or Pocket Théâtre…

E for spaces

“More than ever, we want theatre to be everywhere,” advocates the Zaccros team. The latter has worked on new public spaces to invest. “We really wanted to open up the play areas, exploit new places, expand the area, with shows offering formats in movement, in strolling,” emphasizes Audrey Jehanno.

In the urban area, for the first time, the port of Plagny in Sermoise-sur-Loire will host Le Cirque Compost for example. In addition to the Roger-Salengro park in Nevers, there will also be activity on the Quai de Médine, on the promenade des remparts, square Raymond-Vilain, etc. Signage is planned to help festival-goers find their way.

F for festive

The esplanade of the ducal palace will once again be THE festival village, where the public will be able to obtain information, and even debate, on Sunday morning, during the “public, artists, and professionals” meeting open to all, with Jean-François Marguerin, author with Bernard Lartajet at Actes Sud, in 2022, of For a renewed cultural policy. At the Village, festival-goers will also be able to eat and quench their thirst.

Program, volunteers… The 24th edition of Zaccros d’ma rue in Nevers is approaching

Moreover, the Zancres team will inaugurate its new bar designed as part of the Department’s Nivernais participatory budget. Under the guinguette marquee, concerts will end the days with music and dance. “These are groups particularly attached to companies,” indicates the director.

“The Zaccros also have a very festive, friendly spirit. It’s an event to get together,” insists Audrey Jehanno. “In the urban area, the municipalities will get a little more involved by creating spaces for conviviality, to give rise to moments of sharing.”

R like breathe

This will probably be the highlight of the edition. On Saturday, July 6, at 8:45 p.m., Johanne Humblet from the company Les filles du Renard Pale, will present Breathe. A tightrope crossing with punk and rock notes, with live musicians, between the cathedral and the ducal palace! This show is labeled by the Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad.

It will be a technically and physically impressive performance.

T like toddlers

The team has put together mornings dedicated to families, with Early Childhood shows (0-3 years and over) and Young audiences. “We want to open the spectrum of audiences and ages of audiences. Shows will be offered in the Nevers crèches all week and they will be offered to all audiences on the weekend,” she specifies. From 0 to 99 years old, the Zhooks should know how to satisfy you!
