While waiting for this big party to start, a little look back.

The flame has beenlit on April 16, 2024, in the sanctuary of Olympia, in Greeceaccording to ancient tradition. Shearrived in France aboard the Belem on May 8. After passing through Alsace, Moselle and Haute-Marne the day before, the flame will cross the Meuse ce Saturday June 29, 2024.

Departure from Gondrecourt at 8:30 a.m. The flame will then cross Lake Madine, the Douaumont ossuary, Montmédy, and finally, Verdun.

Step 1: Gondrecourt, 8:30 a.m. > 8:50 a.m.

The flame will travel through the historic center for 1 km. 4 bearers will take turns every 250 m of the journey. The flame will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the tower in the upper town, it will take rue Saint-Blaise, place de la Halle, to turn rue Raymond-Poincaré, rue de la Grande Fontaine, place de l’Ornain, to arrive at place de la Carpière.

Stage 2: Commerce, 10:35 a.m. > 11:17 a.m.

The flame will be lit and will travel a distance of 2.8 km, from the Aquamosa center to the Vélodrome stadium.

Stage 3: Lac de Madine, 11:26 a.m. > 11:46 a.m.

The flame will travel 1 km to the Nonsard site, with a route around the banks of the lake. It will pass by the Port of Nonsard where water sports demonstrations will take place.

Stage 4: Bar-le-Duc, 12:57 p.m. > 1:55 p.m.

The flame will leave from the Hôtel du Département to go to the Château de Marbeaumont then to the Jean Bernard stadium over a total route of 4 km.

Stage 5: Verdun battlefield, 2:36 p.m. > 3:21 p.m.

To admire this highly anticipated 2 km race segment from the Douaumont Ossuary to the Verdun Memorial, it will be necessary to register in advance, for security reasons. The public will be able to watch the passage of the flame from the Verdun Memorial but will not be able to go to the Douaumont Ossuary.

Stage 6: Montmédy, 4:59 p.m. > 5:19 p.m.

4 torchbearers will take a 780 m intra-muros route to the citadel of Montmédy which dates from the 16th century. The flame will arrive at 5 p.m. for a circuit of just under 1 km, which will end around 5:20 p.m.

Stage 7: Verdun, 5:35 p.m. > 7:30 p.m.

At 5:15 p.m., the flame will leave the Pré l’Evêque leisure center, a 10-hectare lake, to arrive at the Parc de Londres sports complex around 7:30 p.m. Between the two, it will row across the Meuse during a collective relay, during its 7-kilometer journey.
