Thunderstorms, hail, very strong gusts of wind… 25 departments placed on orange alert, what is the weather forecast for this Saturday?

This Saturday, June 29, major storms are expected throughout France. 25 departments are placed on orange alert.

This last weekend of June promises to be very stormy in a large part of the territory. Indeed, no less than 25 departments are placed on orange alert this Saturday, June 29, including those of Cher, Landes, Gironde, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Vienne and Deux-Sèvres, as well as the Grand-Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions.

The cold drop which will cause this stormy deterioration is currently located in the south of Spain and should initially affect the regions of Landes in Poitou at the end of the night, indicates Meteo France. Some regions are even exposed to dangerous phenomena: hail, gusts, tornadoes and torrential rains. The cumulative rainfall over a few hours could reach 50 to 80 mm.

Occitania not completely spared

During the afternoon, a second salvo will move from the southwest to the northeast of the country, towards Germany. The storms will be more violent in the large northeast quarter of the country. Very strong gusts of wind, up to 100 km/h, are expected and the move to red alert level in certain departments cannot be ruled out.

In Occitania, thunderstorms are also expected in Aude, Aveyron, Gard, Hérault and Lozère but these departments are, for the moment, only on yellow alert.
