Conor McGregor posted a message on social media on Friday to share his sadness at the idea of not being able to fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 this weekend in Las Vegas.
Absent from the octagon since his second defeat against Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor has not fought since July 2021. Supposed to make his return this Saturday in Las Vegas against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, the Irish superstar finally had to withdraw. Injured and unable to get into the cage for this long-awaited duel, the former two-time UFC champion shared his sadness this Friday on the eve of the evening where Alex Pereira will defend his -93kg title against Jiri Prochazka.
“I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t feel deep sorrow over the week that’s unfolding,” ‘The Notorious’ said in a message posted on social media.

“A deep mental pain”
Still far from being able to claim a chance against the -70kg champions, Islam Makhachev, Conor McGregor still hopes to return to the front of the stage and intended to make an impression with this clash against Michael Chandler. A true MMA superstar in this particularly tough lightweight category with Arman Tsarukyan, Charles Oliveira, Mateusz Gamrot and the Frenchman Benoît Saint Denis, the Irishman still plans to return to the octagon despite his long absence.
