While the heat has spread across the country since the start of the week, a stormy deterioration will cross France this Saturday, June 29. Thunderstorms could prove violent in Occitanie, a region in which all departments are placed on yellow alert by Météo-France.

Summer has barely begun and is already failing. As Météo-France indicates in its latest bulletin, the weather is expected to turn stormy this last weekend of June, with severe weather expected on Saturday, June 29.

According to the meteorological institute’s explanations, cool air coming from the Atlantic will collide with the currently warm air and thus cause stormy weather over a large part of the territory.

A violent stormy offensive

Occitanie will not be left out, since Météo-France places all the departments in the region on yellow alert. Worse: the Grand-Est region and Burgundy-Franche-Comté, but also the departments of Cher, Landes, Gironde, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Vienne and Deux-Sèvres are placed in orange vigilance ‘Thunderstorms’.

A large part of France is on yellow alert this Saturday.
WEATHER FRANCE

This stormy offensive promises to be violent, “probably the strongest since the beginning of this year 2024”alerts The Weather Channel. The storms will cross France from the South-East to the North-East and could be accompanied by intense rain and strong gusts.

High temperatures are nevertheless forecast for this weekend in the country, with a thermometer ranging from 14°C to 25°C in the morning, and varying between 20°C and 33°C during the afternoon on the whole of France.
