The police officers who decided to pat him down on Thursday June 27 in front of the Nantes SNCF train station opened their eyes wide when they discovered a wad of banknotes. “20 centimeters thick”, confides a source close to the investigation. This 30-year-old man, of Sudanese nationality and resident in Vendée, fell in the wrong place at the wrong time. Several police officers had planned to move onto Boulevard Stalingrad, in front of the station, as part of a requisition by the public prosecutor.

In custody for money laundering

These tickets had to be counted one by one. It cost €24,850 precisely. The explanation given for the possession of such a sum of money left the police doubtful. According to him, this is the fruit of his work and he wanted to send the money to his country. The thirty-year-old was immediately taken into custody for money laundering, not being able, in the eyes of the courts, to justify the origin of the money. The Nantes public prosecutor’s office had not yet decided his fate at the end of his police custody on Friday, June 28, in the evening.
