Each constituency has its own national figure in the west of the Somme.

In the 1st, it is the spokesperson for Picardie Debout François. In the 3rd, the rising figure of the Communist Party Léon Deffontaines.

And in the 4th: the “finance man” of the National Rally Jean-Philippe Tanguy, winner in 2022.

The “mister finances” of the National Rally, big favorite

In this huge constituency which goes from Bernaville to Hornoy-le-Bourg via Montdidier and bypassing Amiens, the outgoing deputy is a huge favorite for his re-election.

Facing him, most of the candidates were already in 2022, and the dynamics are clearly working in his favor.

His national stature and his media coverage are also considerable assets for the former right-hand man of Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.

National coverage for Jean-Philippe Tanguy

In the last two weeks, he has indeed multiplied the sets and interviews, from BFM to France Inter via RTL and many others.

It must be said that in the event of a victory by the far-right party, he would likely be a budget minister in a Bardella government.

It is difficult to exist in the media for his opponents, who rely much more on a field campaign.

The Popular Front candidate hopes to create a surprise

Environmental activist Elodie Héren, municipal councilor of Molliens-Dreuil, is the candidate of the New Popular Front.

Already a candidate in 2022, she had obtained a good third place and hopes to benefit from the union of the left.

The absence of the former Macronist deputy Jean-Claude Leclabart, beaten by the RN two years ago, could also be an asset to allow him to access the second round.

The youngest Macronist candidate in France

The presidential party has bet on youth with Anthony Gest, the youngest candidate invested by Renaissance in France, at just 19 years old.

More seasoned, Les Républicains candidate Vincent Jacques is once again campaigning, as he was in 2022.

The young business leader from Montdidier has been making frequent trips to the constituency since the start of the campaign.

How to campaign in such a large constituency?

The national media coverage of Jean-Philippe Tanguy gives him a considerable advantage over his competitors, in a constituency where directly reaching the entire population is mission impossible.

We counted: to connect the most important municipalities in the territory of Bernaville to Hornoy-le-Bourg via Montdidier, you have to drive more than 150 kilometers!

The candidates

  • Jean-Philippe Tanguy (National Rally)
  • Mélodie Héren (New Popular Front)
  • Vincent Jacques (The Republicans)
  • Anthony Gest (Renaissance)
  • Guy Vitoux (Workers’ Struggle)
