The Friends of Father Poupon association laid a new commemorative plaque in honor of Father Jacques Poupon this Wednesday, June 26.

Continuation of the mission of the association Les Amis de l’abbé Poupon which once again paid tribute last Wednesday to the emblematic figure of Sénonais. After the parking lot of the rue des Déportés et de la Résistance then the tomb of Jeanne, the mother of the abbé, the Archbishopric of Sens is also hosting a commemorative plaque. “He was one of those numerous priests whose mission did not stop at the doors of the church and compensated for what the public authorities of the time did not take care of. Among all its actions, the colony of La Savoyarde has allowed many young Sénonais to discover the mountains” said Jean Forgereau, one of the founding members of the association behind this initiative. Father Joël had organized a small ceremony in his honor which ended with a prayer. Jean Forgereau then proudly unveiled the plaque which bears recognition of a 30-year-old work and a most soothing message in these times of political chaos where each party, without exception, takes the lead. The abbot is described there as the “tireless and generous servant of the people of Senon, of the youth, whatever their origin or religion”.
