The criminal court of Bergerac (Dordogne) sentenced a 26-year-old man to five years in prison, four of which were to be served on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Tried immediately, this 26-year-old motorist was found guilty of killing an 81-year-old British woman after colliding head-on with the vehicle she was in. The defendant was driving without a driving license at the time of the events, reports South West .

The latter occurred Monday June 24 on the national 21 near Campsegret, specifies France Blue Perigord The driver was driving an Audi car lent by a friend. He was under the influence of alcohol (0.97 g/l) and cannabis. According to our colleagues, the defendant had even filmed himself, with the music at full blast, before and after the accident. “This is the first time that I have seen a file with so many aggravating circumstances”launched the public prosecutor.

Two people injured

“At first, I wanted to make a story on Snapchat”, the defendant tried to explain. A clumsy defense which hardly convinced the prosecution. The latter requested six years in prison and ten years of license ban against him.

The court finally handed down a five-year prison sentence, one of which was suspended. Placed under a committal warrant, the defendant will not be able to retake his driving license for six years. “I’m so sorry, I can never forgive myself.”, he said before being taken back to prison. According to our colleagues, two other people were seriously injured in this dramatic accident.
