Georgia resists Spain

The suspense remains total in this match which has so far been generally controlled by Spain. But Georgia is formidable on the counter, and Le Normand paid the price with a csc. Before the break, Rodri reset the counters. Georgia has the weapons to achieve a new feat.

The Norman wants to make up for it

Kick-off imminent

The 22 players took to the pitch. Before kick-off, it was time for the anthems, with Georgia’s to start.

History of the last meetings

Georgia will have a lot to do to break the bad dynamic against Spain. In November 2023, La Roja won 3-1, with goals from Le Normand, Torres and a goal from Lochoshvili. A few months before, the Georgians had taken a big blow with a 1-7 loss.

Fabian Ruiz surprises

Spain can count on a superb armada, with winger Nico Williams who distinguished himself with a masterclass against Italy in the left lane. Sometimes frustrating at PSG, Fabian Ruiz had an exceptional tournament, including an incredible goal scored against Croatia.

Georgia carried by Mikautadze

Sparkling at FC Metz, Georges Mikautadze made a name for himself in Europe, being the competition’s co-top scorer with 3 goals. Decisive against the Czechs, the Turks and the Portuguese, the striker will try to score the net again, alongside star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, author of a superb performance against Portugal.

Yet another feat for Georgia?

Willy Sagnol’s Georgia never ceases to surprise. Qualified for the first time in the final phase of the Euro, the Georgians have proven their ability to bring down big names like Portugal (2-0). Against Spain, they will have to achieve the same kind of performance, if not more.

Spain in great shape

Solid leader of group B, Spain is one of the favorites having shown the most interesting face during the group stages, with convincing successes against Croatia (3-0), Italy (1-0) and Albania (0-1). Logically, La Roja is the clear favorite in this confrontation against Georgia.

Georgia’s eleven

Mamardashvili – Lochoshvili, Dvali, Kashia, Gvelesiani, Kakabadze – Kochorashvili, Kiteishvili, Chakvetadze – Kvaratskhelia, Mikautadze
