NÎMES Opening of the Ambulatory Interventional Radiology Center at the University Hospital

The Nîmes University Hospital inaugurates CARI, a space dedicated to the optimization of ambulatory radiological care.

The University Hospital Center (CHU) of Nîmes is determinedly pursuing its policy of developing outpatient care for patients. After the opening of the Carémeau Sud Ambulatory Center (CACS) in 2019 and that of the outpatient cardiology service last year, it is now the turn of radiology to have a brand new space, specially designed for a patient journey optimized.

The opening of the CARI (ambulatory interventional radiology center) marks an important step, showing that interventional radiology has its place in an ambulatory care approach. This project, the result of in-depth reflection and feedback from recent years, has the main objective of strengthening the quality of care and hospital comfort. With an average attendance of 12 patients per day, the Nîmes University Hospital has invested to increase from three to ten places, thus offering better reception conditions and greater fluidity of pathways.

“Thanks to CARI, care begins as soon as the patient arrives, who enters a bubble of comfort and security” says Professor Julien Frandon, Radiologist at the Nîmes University Hospital.

The interventional radiology outpatient center is dedicated to image-guided interventions in various fields such as neuroradiology, oncology, osteoarticular, venous access, and vascular. The CARI represents a unique place to welcome outpatients, thus improving visibility in interventional radiology, while contributing to the radiological medical attractiveness.
