“It is necessary to recruit two qualified people.” The urban community of Alençon (CUA) wants to ensure the deployment of composting on its territory. On Thursday, June 27, 2024, it made the decision to create “two ambassador positions assigned to the recovery of biowaste”, explained Anne-Sophie Lemée, vice-president of the community.
Encourage the population to compost
The two people hired full-time will have to “organize events and awareness campaigns aimed at the population.” Their contract will be effective until 2026. The CUA benefits from a subsidy of €30,000 per year and per position under the Green Fund, a State mechanism to accelerate the ecological transition.
Since 1is January 2024, in accordance with European law and the 2020 anti-waste law, local authorities must allow individuals to sort their biowaste. The CUA will continue the installation of collective composters, the distribution of individual composters and bio-buckets and will set up a dedicated collection.
