A serious fire broke out on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in a house in Laigneville, in the Oise. A woman, the owner of the premises, was seriously injured while trying to put out the flames herself before the firefighters arrived, reports Oise News .
The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m., while a children’s birthday party was being held in the house. Most of the children were in the garden but one was sleeping upstairs. The woman immediately rushed into the house to get him out before going back inside to put out the fire.
No children injured
Around twenty firefighters were mobilized on the site. The victim, aged 40 according to The Picard Courier seriously injured her hands, face, torso and legs. Taken care of by emergency services, she was airlifted to a burns hospital. She was then “in serious condition” according to firefighters.
The fire was finally brought under control in the evening by the firefighters. According to initial findings, a fryer fire could be the cause of the tragedy. The mayor of Laigneville, Christophe Dietrich, went to the scene and told Oise News that the disaster was ” difficult to access “ at this stage. “The children present […] are a little upset but none of them were injured”he added.
