Athletics in Occitanie: great success of the Pointes d’Or final

Lots of people on Sunday at the Sports Park which served as the setting for the Pointes d’Or Occitanie championships, an event reserved for the junior and junior categories (boys and girls) from the entire region.

As announced in our previous edition, more than 330 athletes representing around fifty clubs from Occitanie were present.

About ten people from Millau present

A competition in which around ten Millau athletes took part: Antoine Becquey, Léonie and Martin Barbe, Jules and Mathis Bonal, Hugo Fornara, Lison Pailhas, Timothée Drouin and Louise Cros-Saussol.

It is also the latter which obtained the best result for the Somist colors by ranking 8th in the final ranking, namely the total points on the three events contested in this same competition, a run, a jump and a throw. She totals 101 points and misses the podium, namely 3rd place by 4 points, which means that the top 10 was very close. Also note Léonie Barbe’s beautiful 18th place out of 72 ranked athletes with 91 points.

The French championships are approaching

Another good performance among the youngest with Timothée Drouin who finished in the top 10, taking 10th place with 109 points. The majority of these athletes are qualified for the regional championships of individual events which will take place this weekend in Albi. This means that the season is coming to an end since the final stage will be the French championships during the first half of July.

The award ceremony for the two categories for girls and boys took place in the presence of Jean-Pierre Mas, sports deputy for the city of Millau. Note that next to the podium was displayed a magnificent sculpture in the colors of the Olympic Games with a Millavoise connotation. An achievement to the credit of the Millavois educator of the section, Michel Orlowski.
