Rabat – The House of Representatives is organizing, on Friday, the first annual Parliamentary Forum for equality and parity under the theme “Parliament, an essential lever for equality and parity”.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this forum is part of the Chamber’s strategy aimed at implementing the High Royal Guidelines, as well as the constitutional and legal provisions relating to the promotion of rights women, indicates a press release from the legislative institution.
This event is also part of the commitment of the Chamber and all of its components, in the national effort aimed at strengthening and promoting women’s rights, specifies the same source.
The Forum aims to institutionalize the parliamentary debate on equality and parity, to open public dialogue between Parliament and all parties concerned, as well as to exchange experiences, know-how and best practices in matters of equality and parity, we continued.
Likewise, adds the Chamber, this conclave aims to review the achievements and challenges of the Kingdom in terms of equality and parity, to propose parliamentary approaches aimed at accelerating the pace to achieve equality between the sexes in Morocco, while contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the National Sustainable Development Strategy 2030.
In addition, this Forum will be an opportunity to open a debate on the evaluation of progress made in the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, to which the Morocco joined in 1993.
According to the press release, this meeting will highlight comparative experiences and best practices in terms of equality and parity, through two main axes relating to “The empowerment of women and the strengthening of their participation in public life” and “Public social policies and the objective of achieving equality and parity”.
Members of the thematic working group on equality and parity in the House of Representatives will take part in this parliamentary event, as well as Moroccan parliamentarians and representatives of friendly parliaments.
It will also be marked by the presence of representatives of the ministries concerned and several national institutions, in addition to representatives of the United Nations, international organizations, associations and civil society entities, as well as experts and researchers in the material.
