Legislative: in the Chartres constituency, the dice are rolled

In the Chartres constituency, the field of possibilities for the early legislative elections this Sunday, June 30, seems particularly open. Six candidates are in the running.

While “only” six candidates went on an express campaign in the 1st constituency of Eure-et-Loir (Chartres) – 9 in 2022 – the challenges of these anticipated legislative elections are numerous. First there is the question of participation. In 2022, a little less than one in two voters (49.32%) went to the polls during the first round of the legislative elections in the 1st constituency. If a large part of the political spectrum is calling for an electoral surge, this, if not significant on Sunday, could well redraw the contours of the elections.

The presidential majority has a lot to play for

On the candidates’ side, the outgoing MP and Minister for Housing, Guillaume Kasbarian (Together!), has a lot to play for. It is from the first round that the candidate of the presidential majority, who came first in 2022 with 31.32%, will have to make the difference, to return to his post as deputy. A battle which may seem complicated if the presidential majority does not manage to unite more than during the European elections, where it only totaled 17.56% of the votes.

The RN in the dynamics of the European elections?

The candidacy of the National Rally (RN), led this year by Emma Minot, did not, in 2022, embody a real threat since the party, then represented by David Delorme-Monsarrat, came in third place, with 18.72%. However, during the European elections, on June 9, it was Jordan Bardella’s RN that was in the lead with 22% of the vote: a first in Chartres.

Somewhat nibbledand by the specter of the RN, the list of Republicans (LR), led by Ladislas Vergne, (on the right in the photo), who notably bet on an incisive campaign on social networks, is not assured of shaking up the vote. Losing ground, the traditional right, already led by Ladislas Vergne in 2022, had gathered 8.81% of the votes. And achieved a score similar to the European elections, a little less than three weeks ago (8.49%).

The left is back

They had already made a common front in 2022, with the Nupes, represented by Quentin Guillemain, who came second in the first round of the legislative elections in Chartres, with 22.83%. This time, they are leaving under the banner of the New Popular Front. The union of the left, led by Jean-François Bridet (Les Écologistes – EELV), hopes to do as well and even better, in 2024. If it does not find itself, this time, caught in a vice by the RN…

The other candidates: Marie-José Aubert (LO), Pierre-Louis Delauney (Reconquest!)

Marie-José Aubert and her replacement Thierry Lucas (Lutte Ouvrière).

Pierre-Louis Delauney and Danièle Saville, his replacement for Reconquête!.
