Members of the Republican party opposed to an alliance with the RN demanded that a civil judge appoint an ad hoc administrator to replace the contested president Éric Ciotti.

They were dismissed. On Wednesday, June 26, the historic members of the Republicans party office took legal action to appoint an ad hoc representative to replace Éric Ciotti, who has been highly contested since his alliance with the National Rally.

The court, seized via an emergency procedure, therefore rejected the request signed by 703 members of the national council of the Republicans, who demanded the appointment of an ad hoc representative if Éric Ciotti did not convene a new political bureau before Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.

“It appears from reading the table (…) that this number in reality includes very many unsigned letters (and) that no verification of the payment of contributions by the signatories was carried out,” observes the court.

LR takes “note” of the decision

In a statement sent to AFP, LR took “note” of the court decision, which it interprets as “a refusal to interfere in political issues in an emergency”, considering that it “does not decide anything on the merits”.

“Mr. Ciotti’s refusal to recognize the evidence that his place is no longer among the Republicans, and his strategy of judicial obstruction will not prevent us from continuing our campaign throughout France for the qualification of our candidates for the second round “, he adds.

Two days after the dissolution of the National Assembly, Eric Ciotti announced to everyone’s surprise an electoral alliance with the National Rally for the legislative elections, taking with him only one of the group’s 61 deputies.

“In any case, he is tied hand and foot. He can’t do anything,” explained to AFP a party executive who recalled that Éric Ciotti’s candidates registered under the name of his micro-party “A RIGHT”.

The party leadership has already called two political offices to exclude its contested president, but on June 14 the courts ordered the suspension of these decisions “until a final decision (on the) merits is made.”
