The former USAM player and coach decided to file a complaint for defamation after the publication of a book written by former HBCN and France team player Allison Pineau.
It was by chance, at a book fair, that Alain Portes came across a book entitled “Alli, histoire d’une championne”. In this book, written by the former player of the HBCN and the French team, a passage evokes the period during which Alain Portes was the coach of the French women’s team. The former player and coach of the USAM had been sidelined in January 2016, following personal attacks on social networks and an anonymous letter accusing him of inappropriate behavior towards certain players. The former coach of the French women’s team (2013-2016) had then initiated proceedings against the French Handball Federation (FFHB).
The courts have condemned the FFHB for unfair performance of an employment contract, recall of bonuses, salaries and paid leave, breach of employment contract and severance pay. Alain Portes has decided to file a complaint for defamation against the author Allison Pineau and against the publishing house “Les Sportives”. Pages 124, 125 and 126 of the book relate certain facts which greatly affected Alain Portes in his honor, taking into account everything he experienced. He is very affected. We consider this to be defamatory “, explains Maître Berthaud, the lawyer of the former USAM international player.
