Last meeting before the first round : The three candidates invested by the right-wing Horizons party brought together 600 people from Nice at the Meridian This June 27th. The opportunity to sound the alarm, with an ultra offensive speech against “the two extremes”.
Muselier: “Ciotti, servile lackey of the extreme right”
Like many Marseillais, he knows how to feel the rooms, to stir up the assemblies. Particularly enthusiastic, the president of the regional council Renaud Muselier launched hostilities without any files. Eric Ciotti, rallied for these early legislative elections to Marine Le Pen? “He became the world rattlesnake champion”a venomous snake with a distinguished name. “He is a coward, a Brutus, and like him, he will be assassinated within two years.”
In this blitzkrieg, “the left will have been guilty of an unnatural alliance, while the president of the Republicans, putting aside our heritage and the Cross of Lorraine, has enslaved himself, to become the servile lackey of the extreme right.”
And the boss of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur warns: “I am here in a city whose development is exceptional. But would the accession to power of these people not sign the death warrant of the plans which must co-finance the cinema, the transport, ecological transition?”
Monetti: “The left will not recognize itself in the betrayal of the Popular Front”
First candidate on the platform, as of course that of the first constituency – the center, the Port, several working-class neighborhoods. Invested by Horizons, the right-wing party created by Edouard Philippe, the deputy mayor Graig Monetti has been launching into Eric Ciotti’s stronghold since 2007.
“We found ourselves there like kamikazes, with bulletproof vests facing the extremes. But we are there in our place, listening to people who feel legitimate anger.” He recongnizes : “In recent years, not everything has to be thrown away, but we have screwed up.” However, “I know that you will reject the radical ideas of the extreme right and that voters on the left will not recognize themselves in the betrayal of the Popular Front”.
Pradal: “Bardella has already renounced its promises”
Second candidate, that of Nice-Nord – the 3rd constituency, including Saint-André, Falicon, and La Trinité – Philippe Pradal. The outgoing one. “We haven’t succeeded in everything, but let’s remember a little. No other country has been as generous as ours during the health crisis, then the energy crisis. We saved businesses and purchasing power. Yes, we have to put the accounts in order. But with credibility.”
While torpedoing Jordan Bardella’s National Rally: “the reduction in VAT is promised, but we do not know when. The lowering of the retirement age is no longer clear either. The RN is innovating: while we blame politicians to abandon their program as soon as they are elected, they do it without even having been elected yet!”
Nofri: “The RN will trigger disorder everywhere”
After public accounts, security, with Gaël Nofriinvested in Nice-West – the Fifth circo, which climbs up to the valleys. “We heard the speeches and the promises. Have they translated into practice? We, the local elected officials, have clearly seen that they have not. Mayors like Christian Estrosi have had to compensate for the failings of the State, with private security guards in cities, the development of municipal police, the first video protection network.
“No voter wants extreme solutions, none became racist. The French are calling for a return to common sense. Not that of NUPES, which comes back like herpes. Not with the RN who wants to overturn the table, that is to say impose disorder on us everywhere.”
Estrosi: “With the left, old pots make the best bankruptcies”
“My friends, I know that many of you have already voted for the National Rally and I tell you: zero problem.” Christian Estrosi is lucid, “The Republican arc to which I belong is at its lowest, let’s not lie to ourselves, we saw it in the European elections. But it is better to lose with our values than to win with dishonor.”
“The left is adrift. The minimum wage is 1,600 euros. Why not 2,000? And retirement at 40? It’s in the old places that we make the best bankruptcies… Same thing for the RN. Pure collaborators sugar. They never changed, don’t believe it.
“Was dissolution the solution? No. I was distraught to see a statesman not retain his reason and lucidity” cuts the mayor and leader of the centrist campaign in Nice.
“I hear the hatred of the President of the Republic, and in some ways, I can understand it. There have been many failures, many measures that I myself have been able to wait for and never see coming. The issue is no longer there: on Sunday, we will decide who will form the next government. For Nice, our duty is not to miss this meeting.”
