In Ligue 1, Ligue 2 or even National, the summer period is also the time of the transfer window! A moment eagerly awaited by clubs and supporters to know who will make up the team for the coming season. Many players who have passed through ASSE are obviously in demand. This is the case of a former young person from the training center who joined Versailles.

Samy Baghdadi commits to Versailles

Trained at ASSE, which left him in 2020, Samy Baghdadi has not forgotten his training club. A Dunkerque player last season, he faced Angers on the final day. The latter was very important for ASSE’s direct promotion. The rest is history. But, before the match, the striker had delivered for Poteaux Carrés.

“Frankly, we’re going to play the match to the full because we’re competitors. We’re football players, we’re professionals. If you knew the number of messages I’ve received from ASSE supporters, my teammates too (laughs)! Afterwards, the final result, I can’t predict it for you now. But Sainté also has to do the job in Rouen!”

Looking for a new challenge after seeing his playing time drastically reduced since the arrival of Gaétan Courtet, he signed with Versailles, a National 1 player.

» FC Versailles is pleased to announce the arrival of Samy Baghdadi.

Samy Baghdadi, who went through the post-training of ASSE, distinguished himself by being the top scorer of the reserve team. He then continued his progression in National 2 with the Grasse club, where he also finished top scorer. His career led him to join the Dutch first division with Fortuna Sittard for a season.

His talent and performances then attracted the attention of USL Dunkerque, where he played for two seasons, scoring 9 goals in 24 games in the 22/23 season.

Today, it is with great joy that we welcome Samy to FC Versailles for the next 2 seasons. He will wear number 10. “
