Cyril Hanouna on Europe 1: Eight days after a first warning, Arcom puts the station on notice for lack of “measure” and “honesty”

After a first warning on June 19, Arcom is raising its voice. In a decision, published this Thursday, June 27, 2024, the audiovisual policeman decided to put Europe 1 on notice for lack of “measure” and D”honesty‘ – particularly towards the New Popular Front – in “On marche sur la tête”, the political program presented by Cyril Hanouna since June 17.

It thus follows from the listening reports of the broadcasts ‘On marche sur la tête’ from June 17 to 25, 2024, the electoral news of La France insoumise and the New Popular Front, a coalition of the main left-wing parties, was treated as systematically critical and virulent manner, often in pejorative and outrageous terms”judged Arcom.

The audiovisual policeman specifies at the same time that “the treatment of current events has been largely unambiguous (…) without another point of view being able to be sufficiently expressed“. “Likewise, the host, columnists and listeners have for the most part expressly formulated strong criticism of La France insoumise and the New Popular Front“.

Arcom, which identified 29 guests in Cyril Hanouna’s show between Monday June 17 and Wednesday June 26, 2024, including 16 from the RN and Reconquête!, 7 from the presidential majority, and only 2 from the New Popular Front, ordered the Lagardère group station, which came under the Bolloré flag in November 2023, to exhibit “with a constant concern for measurement and honesty the reports, comments and presentations to which the elections give rise“.

As a reminder, on June 19, less than ten days before the first round of historic early legislative elections, Arcom sent a letter to Europe 1, reminding it of its obligations in terms of “pluralism” and “honesty” with regard to “election news”. In the Arcom disciplinary scale, the formal notice precedes the sanctions and follows the warning.
