On June 4, around 11:30 p.m., two armed individuals showed up at a residence on Saint-Joseph Street.

One of them opened fire on the residence using a powerful military weapon, specifies François Gagnon, spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Lévis (SPVL).

The Lévis resident and victim of this attempted murder is known to police circles.

Arrested near Joliette

The investigation made it possible to identify Christophe Magnant, 22 years old. The latter, who comes from outside the region, would have acted as a driver during the attempted murder.

On Tuesday, a search was carried out at his home located in Saint-Charles-Borromée, near Joliette.

Assisted by the Tactical Intervention Group, police officers and investigators from the Sûreté du Québec, SPVL investigators arrested the suspect. He appeared briefly on a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Thousands of tablets

During the search, authorities seized a sawed-off 12-gauge gun, ammunition and at least 2,000 tablets believed to be counterfeit hydromorphs.

The case is expected to return to court on Thursday. “It is possible that additional offenses will be denounced in connection with the event of June 4,” indicates Mr. Gagnon.

Despite the arrest of Christophe Magnant, his accomplice has not yet been located. “The investigation is continuing,” concludes François Gagnon.
