Inclusion through sport with the CPSF ESMS & CLUB program

The CPSF, an emblematic figure of sport in France for people with disabilities, fulfills two essential missions:

  1. The constitution and management of the French team at the Paralympic Games.
  2. Coordination, animation and representation of member sports federations to make sports practice accessible to all.

In 2020, the CPSF identified several obstacles to practicing sports within medico-social establishments (ESMS), notably the lack of external professionals and relationships with sports clubs. To overcome these difficulties, the CPSF set up the ESMS & CLUB project.

Le programme ESMS & CLUB

This program aims to create partnerships between medical-social establishments and sports clubs, in order to offer activities adapted to people with disabilities. The system establishes a crucial link between medico-social structures and local clubs, thus allowing a win-win dynamic: ESMS can diversify their range of activities and clubs can welcome new members.

“We are delighted to support this initiative which promotes inclusion through sport in order to ensure that everyone has access to sporting activities that are enriching, adapted and create social connections.”

Marie-Astrid Raoult, Director of the Carrefour Foundation

The Key Stages of the ESMS & CLUB Program

  1. Making contact : The CPSF engages in dialogue with ESMS and sports clubs to understand their needs and present the system to them.
  2. Meeting and exchange : A meeting is organized to discuss the terms of the partnership and answer questions. This step raises club awareness of the capabilities of people with disabilities.
  3. Convention tripartite : Once an agreement is reached, an agreement is drawn up and signed by all parties, allowing the start of the practice sessions.
  4. Setting up sessions : The sports association must organize 15 sessions for a group of at least 6 people. A visit from the territorial Paralympic Referent during the 7e session ensures smooth running and triggers initial funding of €1,500.
  5. Evaluation and sustainability : At the end of the 15 sessions, an assessment is carried out to evaluate the sustainability of the project. If the project continues, the club receives additional financial support of €500.

Thanks to the CPSF ESMS & CLUBS program, we hope that more and more people with disabilities will be able to benefit from enriching and adapted sporting activities.
