RUGBY. Vannes strengthens its pack with a player with more than 200 Top 14 matches!

Metz s’engage

At 33, Fabrice Metz said yes to Brittany and will join Vannes next season in the Top 14! The big guy (1.98m) signed a contract which binds him to the club for the next two years.

For Vannes, this is a major asset, because few players in the Breton squad know the Top 14 games. For the second row, the first division is his garden, he who has been playing in the elite since 2011.

With Racing 92, he signed his first professional contract and had good years, until 2015 when he played 67 matches. Then, he headed to Oyonnax for a season, in the form of loan, where he was also a driving force with 23 matches played.

Finally, he landed in Pau from 2016, and quickly established himself as a leader, a “dad” of the locker room and stayed 8 seasons in Béarn, playing more than 160 matches in all competitions.

In Vannes, the latter could well end his career, having already participated in more than 200 matches in the Top 14. This season, he has 19 matches with the Section Paloise.

A key position

Next year, RCV lost three players in the second row position, including Irishman Darren O’Shea, who was an important member of the group. He will take charge of Valence Romans.

However, in addition to Metz, Jean-Noël Spitzer called on Christian Van der Merwe, who will arrive from Nevers with 24 matches this season and a different, more aerial profile.

Then, Vannes counts Anton Bresler, Mattéo Desjeux, Eric Marks, Timothé Mézou and Mathieu Uhila for respond present in the cage.
